Online resort licensing II launched

Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), launched the second phase of the online system for licensing of tourist resort facilities at a function on the sidelines of the 30th meeting of the board of directors of the SCTA in Riyadh on Sunday.
The second phase involves a new method of instant communication such as information about the result of an application for license including any observation of the licensing authority about the application. It will also show any violations committed by the applicant.
The online system also provides for response to complaints against a resort in two hours after receiving them. The complainant will be informed of the action taken on his complaint in 48 hours, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The system also supplies details about all licensed resorts on a centralized online database.
The launch of the new system marks a qualitative shift in relations between an investor in tourism resorts and related government departments.
Prince Sultan had launched the first phase of the online system for tourist resorts during the Saudi Travel and Tourism Investment Meet 2012.
The new system simplified the procedures related to a resort’s licensing, classification, tariff, transfer of ownership and change in commercial name besides showing violations registered against a resort.
An investor can, according to the new system, register and submit an application for license online without personally going to an SCTA office. The applicant can also monitor the progress of his application until the final decision on the license. He will be receiving text messages at the completion of each phase in the licensing process.
The system links all tourist resort facilities to an integrated network of data, and the investor in a resort can access his resort’s register any time.
The SCTA will also have the privilege to look up online every detail about a resort. The system enables the SCTA to notify an investor about new circulars and instructions.
The SCTA has provided a special link for the system at its website www.scta.gov.sa. The system is protected against any hacking or leakage.
